A holy grail for designers and enthusiasts alike is the Pantone Colour Institute. Created in order to be an innovative system for identifying, matching and communicating colours, it aims to solve the problems associated with producing accurate colour matches. Pantone has chosen the 10 shades for its spring to autumn seasonal colour reports. The colour range is far stretching from purple and blue to orange and yellow. The selections for spring into summer 2014 will no doubt inform your fashion choices. This year’s chosen colours are a mix of alluring pastels and vibrant neon hues.

Pantone can be adopted in the world of Gemmology. Gems come in a variety of different colours and shades, most being much like what can be found on a Pantone colour chart. From cool blue aquamarines and radiant pinkish purple sapphires to sizzling orange fire opals. Radiant Orchid 18-3224 is colour of the year 2014. "Radiant Orchid blooms with confidence and magical warmth that intrigues the eye and sparks the imagination.
